Cullen Maina: Story of 24 year old who Died During Anti-Tax Protests

Kin of 24 year old who died during anti-tax protests are seeking for justice and further investigation after a police report has attributed his death to a hit and run accident along Thika Super Highway.

Cullen Maina disappeared mysteriously during anti government protests last month, his family received the sad news of his demise on Sunday 14 after pictures surfaced online. They then proceeded to City Mortuary where they identified him.

A police report indicates that Cullen was involved in a hit and run accident along Thika Super Highway but his family has questioned the series of events that led to his death.

"This accident occurred in June along Thika Super Highway near Carwash. It was around 10:10 pm and it was a hit-and-run," the Commandant said.

A family member told media personalities that they were devastated by the state they saw Cullen in when they identified him at City Mortuary.

"He was in Nairobi town around Ngara then he left for his house in Kahawa. We observed the body and saw the similarities. We were sure that it was him. He has his leg broken. He did not have a shirt. He was looking bad.

"There are a lot of things that do not make sense. It does not make sense for him to leave Ngara, heading to Kahawa West and stop over at Kasarani as a pedestrian. We were at Kasarani today and the police were not very cooperative. They have not given us the answers," a family member told the press.

Cullen's kin is now demanding for the police to issue them with a detailed report on the series of events that led to the accident that claimed there son's life. They also want police to give them items that were recovered from the accident and CCTV footage from Thika Super Highway so as to ascertain that Cullen lost his life in a accident.
