To stop the alarming trend of femicide in the nation, a team of specially trained investigators from the DCI's Homicide Directorate has been given strict instructions to diligently speed investigations into significant sexual offenses and murder occurrences involving women.

The team, which consists of forensic specialists and criminal intelligence analysts, will collaborate with other relevant parties to develop prompt and all-encompassing preventive measures to deal with this horrific human rights violation.

The Director of Criminal Investigations, Mr. Mohamed Amin, pledged to use every tool at his disposal to help the team fulfill its mandate while briefing them on the massive task that lay ahead of them. "These killings have cast a dark shadow over our safety and security endeavors; we must put this menace to end with remarkable speed and finality," he emphasized.

In all, 94 cases of women and girls being killed were reported to the DCI between 2021 and 2024, and 65 people were charged in various national courts about these deaths.

The group has been directed to finish the unfinished investigations and make sure that everyone responsible is held accountable.
