GOVERNOR ARATI MOURNS THE DEATHS OF THE TWO GIRLS IN THE DARAJA MOJA ACCIDENT
The two young women had left the Kisii Ajiry Center at Gusii Stadium for their lesson and were headed home, according to Arati.
Governor Simba Arati has conveyed his condolences to the families of the two young girls who lost their lives in a terrible car crash that happened on Friday night in the Daraja Moja region near the Kisii-Keroka route.
The boda boda they were riding in was struck by a pickup truck, causing the catastrophe.
When the Toyota Hilux pickup's brakes were reported to have failed, it was traveling from the Jogoo area to downtown Kisii.
The two young women had left the Kisii Ajiry Center at Gusii Stadium for their lesson and were headed home, according to Arati.
"I express my sincere condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the horrific accident," he wrote in an X post.
"May the Lord give strength," he said earnestly.
"May the Lord give strength and comfort to the bereaved families and intervene in causing a speedy recovery to the injured," he said sincerely.
This was in addition to his concerns about the highway's delayed upgrade, particularly along the Darajamoja segment, which he claimed has been designated a "black spot" because of a history of accidents.
The pickup struck the boda boda when it was navigating the crossroads of the Kisii-Keroka and Kisii-Nyamira roads, killing the two pillions inside, according to County Police Commander Charles Kases.
"The boda boda was heading to Kisii from Keroka when the accident occurred."
"The bodaboda operator, Kevin Bundi, suffered a deep cut to the head and a fracture on the left leg and was rushed to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital for treatment," according to him
The pickup driver is healing in KTRH after sustaining bruising.
