IN RAMASHA POLICE CELL, A SUSPECTED WIFE KILLER HANGS HIMSELF WITH SOCKS.
On Wednesday, a man suspected of killing his wife by hacking was discovered dead in a Kisii police jail.
Following allegations that he killed his wife at their home, Misati Obongo, 70, was taken into custody on Tuesday and placed under lockdown at the Ramasha police cells in Masaba South, Kisii.
One day after being detained on suspicion of killing his wife, Obongo allegedly took his own life in the police cell with a pair of socks.
Sammy Gitau, the Madsba South Police Commander, stated, "An officer conducting a routine inspection found the body inside the cells with socks tied around his neck."
After his wife Carren Nyanduko, 67, was allegedly stabbed at their Bonyameyio area house in Ibacho, the man was taken into custody early on Tuesday.
When a granddaughter accidentally discovered Nyanduko's body, she called out the alarm, which set off a chaotic hunt for the ailing suspect.
His remains were taken to the Ichuni morgue.
