RAILA WANTS THE GOVERNMENT TO GIVE EACH OF THE KSH. 500K EXPLOSION VICTIMS IN EMBAKASI.

Opposition leader Raila Odinga has urged the government to relocate and provide compensation to the victims of the gas explosion that happened last Friday in the Mradi district of Embakasi, Nairobi. A House Under the Affordable Housing Project.

Speaking at the scene of the catastrophe on Tuesday, Odinga stated that each affected family should receive Ksh. 500,000 from the government to help ease the suffering caused by the fire incident.

"Every family in this place should receive Ksh. 500,000. That's what's going to allow them to start over. "I would like President Ruto to take note of this matter and guarantee that each family receives Ksh. 500,000," stated Odinga.

In addition, Mr. Odinga insisted that the government's cheap housing scheme relocate the displaced family into the already built homes.

The leader of the opposition criticized the administration for permitting the facility to operate in a residential neighborhood where residents were certain to suffer harm.

"Kenyans' lives are in jeopardy when people are dozing off at work. Things would be substantially different if the Azimio government were still in power. Those responsible for this catastrophe need to have been held accountable sooner. The maximum duration of an investigation should be 48 hours. Odinga stated, "We already know where the error was.

Odinga questioned the integrity of the current inquiries into the incident, stating that it would not be shocking if the plant's owner got away with it.

Four persons have been taken into custody about the incident, including the owner of the illegally functioning gas plant and three representatives of the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA).

The prosecution requested a 21-day detention period for the four when they appeared in court on Tuesday, pending the completion of their investigations.
